Monica and Rachel were having a casual brunch at "The Lazy Harp".
"I'm thinking of getting bangs again," Rachel said, twirling a strand of hair.
Monica raised an eyebrow. "Again? Didn't you just get an asymmetrical bob?"

Rachel shrugged. "I saw this girl on Instagram with amazing bangs..."
"Before you make any rash decisions," Monica interrupted, "remember the Great Perm Disaster of 2017?"
Rachel shuddered. "Okay, bad example. But these would be different!"

Suddenly, a loud bark echoed through the pub. Ross entered, holding a small, fluffy dog.
He smiled apologetically. "Sorry, I couldn't find a dog-sitter. This is Kepler."
"Kepler?" Monica asked, stifling a laugh.
"Like the astronomer," Ross explained. "He's very intelligent. Just this morning, he..."
Ross launched into a detailed explanation of Kepler's cognitive abilities while Rachel tried not to roll her eyes.

"Did you tell him you're still upset about what happened?" Rachel asked Monica in a low voice, referring to a recent disagreement.
"Not yet," Monica said. "This isn't the time nor the place."
"But it's been weeks!" Rachel insisted.
Monica pointed at Kepler. "Maybe the presence of this cute dog will soften her up."
"It's a he", Ross added, not quite following the conversation.

Monica sighed. She needed a stronger cup of tea.
Rachel opened her mouth to speak again, but closed it as she looked at her phone.
She gasped and jumped up from her chair.
"Oh my god!"
"What is it?" both Monica and Ross said at the same time.
"I almost forgot my appointment for...my abortion."
There was a long, shocked silence.
"I'm not ready to have a baby now."
Monica and Ross gave understanding nods.
Ross gave Kepler a pat on the head and excused himself and went outside to continue his dog-walking tour.
Monica and Rachel went out too, but heading to the clinic where Rachel had to be in thirty minutes.
"Want to get some tea later?" Rachel asked Monica.
"Sure", she said.
"And next Sunday brunch at mine?"
"Sounds like a plan".
Monica smiled. Rachel was still a bit confused, but she could rely on Monica's presence and help.
And luckily, she wasn't alone.
They called a taxi and headed to the hospital where Rachel would have the abortion.
Rachel knew it was the best decision for her now and she felt calm because she knew Monica was there to support her.
