Rachel stared at her bank statement, a puzzled frown creasing her forehead. "How can I be making such a low profit selling these gorgeous floral arrangements?"
Monica, ever the pragmatist, pointed at a wilting bouquet. "Maybe because you let people bounce checks? And those lilies look a bit…past their prime."

Rachel sighed. Her latest assignment from her online business course was to increase profits by 20%. It felt impossible.

Later, at The Lazy Harp, Chandler idly stirred his tea. "So, let me get this straight. You’re trying to make more money selling flowers, but you keep accepting bad checks?"
Rachel slumped in her chair. "It’s complicated! I feel bad refusing people."
Chandler chuckled, spinning a CD on the table. "Look, you need a new branch of thinking. No more Mr. Nice Flower Lady. Time for some tough love!"

Ross, arriving late as usual, peered at the CD. "Is that the mating call of the Peruvian Booby? Fascinating! Did you know that their courtship rituals involve…"
Rachel interrupted, "Ross, not now!"
Ross blinked, then offered Rachel a weak smile. "Right. Profit. Tricky. But perhaps if you offered a loyalty program? Customers who return often could receive a… a discount?"

Rachel considered this. "Actually, that’s not a bad idea…"
She began scribbling notes on a napkin, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. Maybe she could turn her failing flower shop around after all. And maybe, just maybe, she could even afford that new Peruvian Booby documentary Ross kept talking about.
